Consciousness Raising Group-Women Only

Back in the days of the Women's Movement we had a thing called consciousness raising groups..CR groups..is the short version. Women met in small groups and discussed things, with other women. Just women. For some reason there was no such phrase as female-from birth way back then..we all  just figured that women who said they were female, were indeed female from birth..We have a more difficult time with these definitions now but we somehow manage. I doubt we will have much ado about this issue in Melrose, but who knows. Life is almost always a surprise in this small one-light town and it could arise..The women who attend the CR group this Friday at the coffee shop will have to work this out themselves , if indeed the issue does arise...

Anyway, this Friday afternoon at 1PM Hannah Price will facilitate, or at least get this group moving, a modern version of the CR group... All women are welcome. Call the coffee shop if you have any questions or need directions. 352-475-3737....7AM until noon..sometimes later..

Living, Working, Traveling, Retiring in Central America

Next week on Thursday evening at 6:30PM, Rainy Burns will give a lecture on living, working and retiring in Central America..Rainy has done all of these things and we are very fortunate to have her back in Melrose for awhile to share all about this experience.. Everyone is welcome to attend this event..Refreshments will be on sale..Bring your questions, friends and family for a hour long lecture , followed by questions and answer period.

What in the Heck is that Red Box All About?

Look over to the right and you will see a red box with some really neat things on it..It is an Amazon wish list and it is there because I am an Amazon associate, meaning if you click on that little box and buy something, I get a small commission. Now, this thing is indeed, my wish list but you don't have to pay any attention to that fact...and you sure don't have to buy me any of these little electronic devices or cowgirl or plant books that I would like to have..It simply was the only Amazon sales box that I could manage to insert onto the blog. The rest baffled me, with all kinds of HTML, copying and pasting, which I just couldn't get to work. This one just put itself in there, thank whatever gods there are.

You can buy yourself or someone else any of these things and I will get a little something. That's a nice thing. You get yourself any book in the world or just about anything that exists and you help me and in turn your hometown coffee shop/community center...You know the one..Take Me Magical Places, in that special little one-light magical town of , Melrose, Florida. What will I ever do if we get another traffic light and how will we give directions to people?  Good question. And it is getting awfully busy in the traffic department around here lately, even with the gosh-darned gas prices, people keep on driving through town, and in a big hurry.

Take a look at the Kindle Reader. It is a swell little thing and probably the electronic device of the future. You can connect and take a look at thousands of books no matter where you are because it is wireless. To me it is like having a traveling library and endless bookstores everywhere. It is about the size of a paperback, lightweight and simple to use (so they say) There are a multitude of accessories ...lights, covers, traveling bags, extra batteries, all that stuff we techies love to have.

So, if you decide to buy one, please buy it through this blog and I will get a small commission..They add up and every six months or so I use mine to get a few books I am lusting after...I usually bring them into the shop for everyone to look at and enjoy..The Remarkable Trees of the World was purchased this way in addition to many other books I normally would hesitate to purchase.
